Jesus Will Come Again, Week 1 Day 3

December 6, 2012

This week, we focus our hearts on the truth that Jesus is coming back. Just as prophets in the Old Testament looked toward a time when the Messiah would come, we look toward Jesus’ return. And just as the prophets of old called the people of Israel to be ready when Messiah would come, this week we pray to prepare our own family by creating room.

1 Thessalonians 3: 12-13 May the Lord make your love grow. May it be like a rising flood. May your love for one another increase. May it also increase for everyone else. May it be just like our love for you.May the Lord give you strength in your hearts. Then you will be holy and without blame in the sight of our God and Father. May that be true when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.

Ask each family member to name a gift that God has given them this week.

Whenever we receive gifts of any kind, we have to make room for them. Christmas clothes and toys replace old clothes and toys. As we are asking God for these three gifts of love, strength, and holiness, there may be some clutter in our souls that need cleaning out. What might get in our family’s way of receiving these gifts? (Some answers might be: fighting, selfishness, anger, busyness, forgetfulness, worry, etc.) Write these answers down.

Hoarding

Pray together as a family asking God to replace the things on your list with love, strength, and holiness. Spend time in silence again listening for God’s response. Close your prayer with the words, “Come, Lord Jesus” spoken aloud together.

Keep the list to use in future family times.
