The LORD is my Salvation; Week 3, Day 3

December 20, 2012

This week we remember that Jesus not only came as a baby, but he also grew up into a man who was, and is, the salvation of the world.  He is your salvation, too. Will you make room for him?

Day 3

Read together in Philippians 1: 9 And this is my prayer: I pray that your love will grow more and more. I pray that you will have better understanding and be wise in all things. 10 I pray that you will know what is the very best. I pray that you will be true and without blame until the day Christ comes again. 11 And I pray that you will be filled with the fruits of right living. These come from Jesus Christ, with honor and thanks to God.

Gather the Christmas cards and photos your family has received this year.  Form them into a circle. Ask your family to look over the circle, just focusing in wherever their attention is drawn for a few moments.

God’s family picture album is even bigger than this. Wow! Think of all the places in the world where Jesus lives. Imagine what could happen if every one of just the people we are looking out let Jesus grow in them. What if all the people of the world grew in love and were wise in all things? What if we were without blame? What if we were filled with the fruits of living with Jesus? This is God’s dream for the world.

How can we be a part of God’s dream for the world? What can our family do to give Jesus room to grow in each of us? (Ask your family to wait quietly and listen for God’s invitation.) Encourage each member of your family to name one thing they can especially do…(sing for God’s honor, give to help others, get along with brothers and sisters for God’s honor, etc.)

Pray together: God, please help us live as part of your dream for the world. (Have each family member ask for God’s help with the one thing they named before.) End together with “Come, Lord Jesus.”
