What about you?

April 9, 2013

As I plan out the next several months on this blog, I wonder about what would benefit you?

question-mark[1]

What do you want to read about, know about, learn about?

Is there a part of your spiritual journey that you wonder about?

A logical one, maybe, given the liturgical season, would be an honest look at the Ascension and Pentecost. Easter is like the rockstar of the liturgical calendar, people often overlook or gloss over the Ascension and Pentecost though.

    But here’s the deal…

The Ascension made Pentecost possible, and Pentecost brought Christ to the world in a totally different way than the incarnation. Christ the man, Jesus of Nazareth was only one man, and even though his resurrection body CLEARLY had some special attributes (e.g., walking through walls), he was still limited as to where he could be at one time. The Ascension was also the final word that Jesus was who he said he was and did what he said he did as a man because he didn’t merely die but ascended.

Jesus may have been limited as to where he could be and who he could help, but Holy Spirit doesn’t have that problem. The Holy Spirit is Christ’s spirit and Christ’s power available to all who follow him at all times everywhere. A lot of people “miss” a lot of the good news in the Ascension and Prntecost. Maybe something to think about.
